ORLANDO -(Business News)- October 5, 2004 - Fibromyalgia Specialist today announced the beginning stages of the clinical trials has started.
Originally the staff had hoped to start the patient recruitment process for the clinical trials at the beginning of summer, but coordinating changes on the parameters took longer than expected. "After a change is made it has to be reviewed by numerous people, such as the drug maker and the biostatistician, and it just takes time. But we are finally starting the patient recruitment and selection. The staff and myself are excited about it", said Dr. Dantini.
"How long the study will take depends a lot on how long it will take to get the sample size of patients we need. Each patient has to be screened and must fit within the parameters to participate. However, once the sample quota is met the actual study period is 3 to 6 months. After the study period the data will be analyzed and conclusions reached. Overall, it will be a lengthy process taking months to complete, but actually being able to start the study is a huge step".
This news comes just days after finding out that Dr. Dantini will be working with another drug company that is performing phase III trials in Europe. Sources say he is currently developing the protocol outline for the research team in Europe. In addition, when asked about their upcoming book he said it is currently being reviewed by some publishers. Overall, it sounds as though they have a lot going on over at Fibromyalgia Specialist . This writer is happy to know that finally someone has an answer to this very misunderstood disease.
